“ Joining Surge Academy for the 2023 Las Vegas Cohort would be an opportunity for me to connect to other leaders in the community, learn how to collectively make systemic change in our education system and grow as an education professional. I believe this fellowship has the potential to be the beginnings of change in the education landscape in Las Vegas. Brining education leaders together to dream big, providing a safe space to create and share experiences and expertise will inspire me to continue seeking ways to elevate our Black and Brown children and families. We are in this world collectively and must seek ways to uplift each other. I hope to continue to explore the goal for traditional education institutions and schools to not just be the place where we memorize to pass tests, but be the place where we can create a safe environment for students to explore who they are, not just what they can or can not do. ”
