“The Surge Fellowship provides leaders with a safe space to interrogate and discover themselves. To be an impactful leader, the work has to start with self first. I’m committed to that self-work. At this leg of my journey, I’m keenly aware of the kinship and community needed to sustain ourselves in the work. My hope is that through the Surge Fellowship, the community, the learning, the unlearning, and the self-exploration, will strengthen the core of who I am and surface dormant gifts, leading to self-actualization. The Surge Fellowship will provide me with a place where my “soul is nurtured, comforted, fed,” and restored to continue to work for and alongside Chicago students and their families.”
