“As an immigrant woman of color, as well as a lifelong educator, advocate, and organizer, I aspire to create liberatory spaces for our black and brown children that affirm their identities, celebrate them for who they are, and enable them to step into their own power. The Surge Fellowship serves as a catalyst, an empowering, identity affirming space where I can be seen, heard, and pushed to realize my potential as a leader. Through the collective strength of the Surge Fellowship, I hope to redefine education beyond the four walls of our schools.”
