“Our education system needs educators who can identify with our students, and who are willing to learn and grow alongside them both academically and personally. As a Surge Fellow I hope to reflect on my own identity as a Latinx, and determine how that influences me as an educator and a leader. I believe that this opportunity will help me to use my identity and background to be able to connect with our students to help guide them through their educational journeys. I hope to become a stronger leader and educator, who can help our students in Philadelphia to make our education system stronger.”
