“Why Surge? I believe Surge is the ultimate step toward my authentic self—a mirror reflecting my desire to truly ‘Be’ and consciously ‘Do’. It is a community that accepts, challenges, develops, and nurtures new skills. It provides a space uniquely held for me—where I find safety to walk in my truth, with reality affirming my path, encouraging continuous reflection and the effort needed for inward growth. Surge instills the courage to wholeheartedly step up, show up, and move forward in my purpose—as a Black educator, leader, mother, and most importantly, as my true self. When thinking about the question, Why now? The only response that I can gather is, “Now”一is the only time every living human being on this earth has. So, why not now?…Now is all I have.”
