Lateshia Woodley is the Executive Director of Student Support Services at Kansas City Public Schools.
“It is often difficult to find professional development geared toward junior and senior-level leadership. The reputation that Surge has and the ability to connect with other people of color in leadership in Kansas City was one of my driving forces. I moved to Kansas City a year and a half ago on a quest to try to make a difference in the lives of the students in Kansas City Public Schools. Senior leadership positions can be very isolating roles. The ability to have thought partners around the work of transforming the lives of students, schools and communities would be a heaven-sent experience. I interpret the Surge Movement as a program that helps to create a circle of support for leaders of color. Surge creates an incubator for change that propels individuals personally and professionally. I love becoming one of the Surge agents of change.”
