In her 18th year in education, Chicago native Janelle Hatch-Miller is a passionate educator and leader dedicated to transforming student outcomes. As Principal of Learn 8 Middle School, she champions rigorous academics, student growth, and staff development. With degrees from Tufts, Dominican, Loyola, and IIT, plus a doctorate in Urban Education Leadership from UIC, she exemplifies educational excellence through her commitment to empowering her team and fostering a high-expectations learning environment for all students. Guided by Frederick Douglass’s words, “It’s easier to build strong children than to repair broken men,” Janelle’s K-12 career spans teaching math in Chicago and English in Japan, as well as leadership roles as an Academic Dean, Assistant Principal, and Principal. A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she vehemently believes that a quality education changes lives. Outside of education, she enjoys life with her husband and their three vibrant children.
