“Personally making a “difference” in education is not only about innovating new policies, projects, or reinventing the wheel. Showing up everyday and providing quality support to students letting them know we are of service to them, and ready to advocate for their educational and social emotional needs is just as impactful as any new policy or project. It is my personal mission to support anyone in any capacity that I can, with hopes that they get the resources they need, support they never felt, or at least a moment of relief. Through this Surge experience I hope to hone in on my leadership skills, increase my knowledge of resources to share with individuals and groups of people in the communities I serve, and build a stronger network with peers passionate about cultivating change. ”
