“Surge represents both a catalyst and a community. It is the bridge between my Freedom Dream—the Bakari Youth Diaspora Project, a global home for language, liberation, and healing—and the practical tools I need to bring it to life. I chose Surge because it creates space for unapologetic Black and Brown leaders to dream boldly while sharpening the skills required to shift systems: building strategy, mobilizing resources, and sustaining impact. Equally important, Surge means joining a cohort of leaders whose journeys I deeply admire. I am eager to build authentic relationships, support their endeavors, and learn from their brilliance as we grow together. As a first-generation South Sudanese-Ugandan-Rwandan American, I bring lived experience and a deep commitment to equity, creativity, and healing. For me, Surge is where we turn our collective dreams into action—so our communities don’t just survive, but thrive.”
