“As a school leader of color, who grew up on the south side of Chicago, I welcome the opportunity to participate in a program that addresses issues of race and class that affect black and brown children. I have worked in urban schools throughout my entire career, and I understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with working in this environment. I am excited about the opportunity to participate in coaching, professional development, and intentional collaboration to collectively work towards uplifting our community. As a member of a cohort, I would be able to learn not only from the leaders of the initiative, but also from the shared experiences of my colleagues. This type of support is invaluable, and I am always empowered when I can see that I am a part of a larger movement. Through our collective efforts we can truly make a change in the urban educational landscape.”
