“My hope is the Surge experience will challenge me and push my boundaries around thinking and navigating our current system of education. I really hope to better understand more structural and political underpinnings of our system, and learn more on how to overcome the ingrained inequities that keep our young people from reaching their dreams. I hope to collaborate with others, to talk with and understand perspectives different from my own, to learn and grow within a community of hard working and driven educators, passionate about the work and doing their best day in and day out. I hope to contribute my own knowledge and experience, to speak authentically about challenges and successes and hopefully help others overcome their own challenges and contribute to the larger community of educators here in DC. As a leader, I hope to learn more of how to support my staff in a more effective way and prepare my students for college and careers.”
