“Surge presents a unique opportunity for myself – alongside other values-aligned leaders of color – to advance our shared mission of empowering DC’s black and brown children through education. I anticipate cultivating close connections and engaging in crucial conversations. I’m equally excited to learn from one another’s diverse experiences as we uplift both the issues and solutions to important topics of equity and access. Participating in Surge Academy this year will allow me to have a container for exchanging ideas, strategies, and inspirations as we systematically work to improves outcomes in a post-pandemic context here in D.C. All the while, Surge will foster an environment in which I can further develop my own personal leadership capacities. In addition to investing in myself, I hope to contribute to cohort mates’ journey so we can invest in others in our community. I’m excited about this opportunity to learn, grow, and unite! ”
