Participation in Surge would enable me to build a community of support to network and share resources, tips, and experiences to help accelerate progress towards my dreams. Additionally, the Surge Fellowship will allow me to receive feedback from leaders from different backgrounds and who work in different professional positions within education. Overall, I hope to further my professional development as a new leader in my profession so that I have the skills and community to effect real change in the education of our black and brown youth. I desire to further explore anti-racist design and project planning, management, and execution to incorporate and share with my team. Further, I would love to gain a deeper understanding the of sociopolitical and economic context, along with the history and structure of public education to recognize barriers to progress and strategize how to overcome hurdles to improve the educational system for our youth.
