I want for Black and Latinx youth to have an education system that sees them as fully human and fully whole and works in solidarity with them to manifest their own freedom dreams while simultaneously challenging them to expand their understanding of what freedom actually is. Specifically, I want them to have a safe space to make mistakes on their journey to self-discovery and self-actualization.
I’m hopeful that Surge will help to build my leadership capacity so that I can always take the posture of a “servant leader” and the humility that comes along with that title, while also having the boldness and trust in self/community to passionately defend and advocate for my freedom dream. In the process, I hope to become a co-conspirator for other likeminded people and to stand in solidarity with them as they pursue their freedom dreams.
