Susana Elizarraraz is the Vice President of Educator Supports at Latinx Education Collaborative (LEC).

“What Surge means to me is a place of community to tackle the uphill battle of working toward making education a more equitable place for children, youth, and families of color. It can often feel isolating to be working against a system where bias is so ingrained, so to be a part of a network that appreciates our students’ differences and works to best understand how to serve them most effectively is paramount for me. As a Surge Fellow, I hope to identify the areas in which I could be a better teacher and mentor through the knowledge gained, the consistent feedback and problem solving with my colleagues, and constant reflection of my skills and areas of improvement. Our students and communities deserve our very best and I know Surge can help me be a better advocate, activist, and educator for them.”
